NANIMARQUINA PRESENTS THE LUCIA EAMES COLLECTION
A CELEBRATION OF LUCIA EAMES’ ARTISTIC VISION THROUGH THE DEEPLY HUMAN MEDIUM OF TEXTILE
HOLDING
THE EVERYDAY
SACRED
The Lucia Eames collection, presented by Nanimarquina in collaboration with the Eames Office and Form Portfolios, introduces an artist whose work has long remained quietly resonant. Drawing from seven original artworks, the collection translates Lucia Eames’s intimate visual language into textiles, where her signature motifs—butterflies, suns, birds, and organic abstractions—move from paper into tactile form.
Textiles, embedded in Lucia’s early creative life, provide a medium aligned with her sensibility: iterative, material-driven, and deeply attuned to process. The rugs, crafted through a range of artisanal techniques and natural fibers, emphasize both the specificity of each design and the collective ethos of making. In this context, authorship becomes shared—between artist, designer, and artisan—producing objects that carry both individual expression and cultural continuity.

Seeing Lucia’s drawings translated into rugs has been extraordinary. Throughout the process, nanimarquina was committed to honoring Lucia’s vision and ensuring the pieces remained true to the spirit of her original art works, resulting in a collection that seamlessly reflects her optimism, sensitivity, and deep connection to nature.

Lucia’s work represents the courage to express the emotions we find in nature: elements that speak of happiness, make us feel alive and deeply connect us to nature. Without her inspiration, I may not have dared to be so direct in my designs and it is precisely this courage — centering essential and emotional elements — that I deeply admire in her work

Lucia Eames’s artistic sensibility resists spectacle. Instead, it proposes a slower, more attentive way of seeing—one rooted in observation, repetition, and care. Her compositions suggest that meaning is not constructed through scale or complexity, but discovered in the quiet persistence of looking. In translating her work into rugs, this sensibility is not diminished but amplified; the viewer becomes a participant, encountering her imagery not only visually, but physically and spatially.
At a moment defined by acceleration and abstraction, the collection feels deliberately grounded. It foregrounds the poetic potential of the everyday, where symbolic forms—stars, tendrils, fragments of nature—serve as conduits between the material and the metaphysical. What emerges is not nostalgia, but continuity: a reminder that design, at its most vital, can still hold space for reflection, connection, and presence.

At Salone del Mobile 2026, Nanimarquina will present the Lucia Eames™ Rug Collection. During Fuorisalone, the brand shifts to a more intimate scale with Make the Everyday Sacred—an exhibition that reflects its ongoing exploration of the emotional resonance of objects and the quiet significance of everyday life.
